Dear Clients & Patients,

As the impact of COVID-19 is felt across the globe, the health and safety of our staff, clients and patients remains our top priority during this period of uncertainty.

We have implemented the best practice, to prevent the spread of disease, within the clinic.  Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes have been distributed in the store and are being used regularly. Practicing social distancing, implementing telephone medicine, online services, curb side pick-up/drop off, wearing personal protective equipment and making physical changes in the clinic; protective shields are installed on our eye care equipment, ready for post Covid-19.

The Ontario Government announced a list of additional businesses that are permitted to reopen as of Tuesday May 19, 2020. The list includes retail services that are not in shopping malls and that have separate street-front entrances with measures in place that can enable physical distancing.

While this announcement indicates that Ontario is moving forward with its plan to reopen the province, opticians and optometrists are still subject to Directive #2 which limits health professionals to essential or emergency services until further notice. Non-essential opticianry and optometry services cannot be resumed until this directive is amended or rescinded by the provincial authorities.

Market Lane Optical is only allowed to provide urgent care and/or non-prescription retail services at this time, while maintaining the Standards of Practice on safety and infection control in the practice environment.

What does this mean?

Market Lane Optical falls strictly under 2 colleges; College of Opticians and College of Optometry.

Under their Standards of Practice, Market Lane Optical will not be able to resume regular hours of operation; we will continue to provide and service our clients and patients through our online services and by emergency bookings until the province of Ontario lifts: Directive #2 for Health Care Providers (Regulated Health Professionals or Persons who operate a Group Practice of Regulated Health Professionals) Issued under Section 77.7 of the Health Protection and Promotion Act (HPPA), R.S.O. 1990, c. H.7

As The Vision Care Providers at Market Lane Optical, we dearly miss our neighbours and many individuals in the Woodbridge/Vaughan community. We hope we will be part of the second phase in Ontario's plan to resume services at Market Lane Optical.

We remain committed to prioritizing your Vision needs,

Joanne Sze
